First blood...

This is a retrospective entry.

I've been learning about tattoos for a little while now but today my mentor decided the best way for me to actually learn anything worthwhile about tattooing - was to dive straight into it and just do it.

I was gobsmacked and didn't feel anywhere near ready to take a needle to a live human being! Poor guy, the amount of pain he must have put up with! Me being all thumbs ... still it's going to be a really interesting one because over the months we will be developing the tattoo together.

So today I used my first liner and round on a live human being (and it was glorious)
I also used my own machines!

About Tattytoods

Tattytoods is about my personal process as a developing tattooist.

I've always loved body art and that sort of adornment on the body.I would constantly draw on people, and on myself.. all the time.

I took up Mendhi painting as soon as I could learn how to do it, and make/made my own cones and paste - It's slightly laborious but I love the whole process of it also I loved its meaning and got my own hands mendhied at an engagement party once. (Alas those pictures are now lost)

Unfortunately tattooing is a world that's quite closed to people who haven't got any ink (and I don't - I'm just too fickle to commit to any sort of permanence although that may change in the future)

In 2008 I finally met a tattooist (who shall remain anonymous for various reasons) willing to teach me about the craft.

Thus begins this blog...
